US Open winners to receive invitations to three of the five major championships
Breakthrough for Open winners
Starting this year, winners of the US Open will now automatically qualify for three of the five senior majors once they turn 50. This is a significant change from the previous policy, which did not allow Open winners to receive invitations to any of the senior majors.
Long and storied history
The US Open was first contested in 1895, and has a long and storied history. Many of the biggest names in golf have won the Open, including Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Bobby Jones.
The three senior majors that Open winners will now be eligible for are the Senior PGA Championship, the Senior British Open, and the Senior Players Championship.
